On October 2, 2019 the Governor of California signed CA Assembly Bill No.241 requiring physicians, surgeons and nurses to demonstrate satisfaction of continuing education in the understanding of implicit bias treatment for licensure. The boards of physicians, nursing and physician assistants are required to include this education as part of its curriculum. Read the bill
The bill compliments the CA 2017 SB 219 which enacts the Long-term care LGBT Bill of Rights which makes it unlawful for a long-term care facility to discriminate or act with bias based on a person's 'actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or human immunodeficiency virus status."
